Since 2010, the Lower Mainland Monarchs have operated around the Fraser Valley with as many as 6 teams each season. We are non-profit, which means we have the ability to offer the BEST VALUE in spring hockey. Your spring hockey $$ go into ice, coaching and development, that’s it.
PLAYER SELECTION:
We do not offer try-outs for your players. Our philosophy is focused on development, not on assembling the best teams with the best players each year. We look for good players, of course, but more importantly we look for players and families who hold our same values in terms of sportsmanship, effort and respect. We take these values seriously, and hope that these things will stick with our players long after they’ve grown up and out of spring hockey. We invite potential new players to come and have a skate at one of our drop-in sessions and together with your family decide if the Monarchs is the right team for you. The cool part is that once we commit to a player, we offer them a 2 year commitment, so our players know who they’re playing for from year to year – they don’t have to go to expensive and often time-wasting tryouts.
PROFESSIONAL COACHES:
We have 4 professional coaches who run our teams:
Randy Zinn (Chief Instructor, head coach) – bio information and mugshot coming
Dean Rasmussen (Head Coach) – bio information and mugshot coming
Debbie Beaudon (Head Coach) – bio information and mugshot coming
Garry Loewen (Goalie Coach) – bio information and mugshot coming
PARENT VOLUNTEERS:
If we expect our players to work as a team on the ice, we should expect atleast that from our parent group, right? You bet. In order to present the BEST VALUE in spring hockey, we ask a few things from our parents. We plan team lunches, record analytics during our games, and otherwise help out.
Each team also has a volunteer team manager (or two!!) who organize game sheets, keep the rosters in line and along with 2 volunteer Assistant Coaches who work with players on the ice and also contribute to our off-ice development. These people are all critical to our teams remaining on track and on budget.
There is a Board of Directors who guide the Monarchs throughout the year. That Board is made up of the coaches listed above along with our Team Managers and the following 4 people:
Person #1 – bio information and mugshot coming
Person #2 – bio information and mugshot coming
Person #3 – bio information and mugshot coming
Person #4 – bio information and mugshot coming
